Thrassivoulos Kontaxis was born in Athens. He was awarded a scholarship to study at the Law School of the University of Athens. He is a practising Attorney at Law in Athens, in addition to being a Doctor of Law. It is noteworthy that his doctoral dissertation was unanimously approved with the highest grade. His specialisation lies in criminal cases. He is the President of the "Judicium Rectum" Scientific Centre for Research and Applications in Criminal Law, and a member of the Association of Greek Criminal Law Scholars and of the Hellenic Society of Criminal Law.
He has served as an examiner and grader for the Athens Bar Association in the bar exams for trainee attorneys. Furthermore, he was responsible for organising and lecturing at the inaugural seminars of the Athens Bar Association for the training of new lawyers on substantive criminal law and criminal procedure (2000–2009).
A lecturer has delivered a series of professional seminars on criminal law. These seminars were organised by the publishing house "Nomiki Bibliothiki" in Athens and Thessaloniki, and at local Bar Associations. The series was titled "The Criminal Trial" and it has been running from 2002 to the present. He is also a lecturer who delivers educational instruction at thematic seminars, academic conferences, and forums.
He has authored seven monographs, contributed to a series of collective works, and, in parallel, has published numerous scholarly papers and articles on criminal law.
